We are once again supporting Purple Day
Purple Tuesday is the UK’s first accessible shopping day, established to recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers, and promote inclusive shopping.
- We have provided training to members of staff on autism and hidden disabilities, we provide hidden disability lanyards for customers with non-visible disabilities and we provide quiet hours in order to improve the customer experience for our autistic customers.
- Quiet hour is between 11 am – midday each day of the week for 6 days from Tuesday 3rd November. So that’s no music and no scheduled fire alarm testing during that time.
- We continue to have public announcements over the speaker in relation to social distancing every 15 minutes.
- Lanyards are available and there is some literature on Purple Tuesday and Autism at the information desk.
We recognise that 20% of adults in the UK have a disability and of these, 80% of disabled people have ‘invisible’ or hidden impairments.
